Map #30 – St. Vincent-Sydenham Townline
At the request of the landowner, the Bruce Trail has been rerouted off a property where the landowner had specifically requested that no dogs be allowed, due to the presence of livestock in his fields. This landowner request was clearly posted on signs where the Bruce Trail enters the property and in the Bruce Trail Reference. Nevertheless many hikers ignored this request and the landowner and his livestock were impacted several times.
Now, hikers going in the direction of Tobermory must hike 2.1 km north on the Sydenham-St. Vincent Townline, turn onto the blue blazed River Kwai Side Trail and follow it 4.1 km east and south to regain access to the white blazed Bruce Trail. Hikers going in the direction of Niagara must do the reverse.
We all lose when hikers ignore landowner requests, and with more than 25% of the Bruce Trail on private property, it is imperative that we respect the wishes of each and every landowner. Please observe all restrictions regarding dogs, bicycles, motorized vehicles, and others on the trail!
