Youth Day of Volunteering
Join the Bruce Trail Conservancy on October 19th for a hike and participate in a restoration activity to contribute to the BTC’s conservation efforts!
Event Information
Are you between the ages of 18 and 25 years old? If so, we invite you to join the Bruce Trail Conservancy for fresh air and giving back. Participate in a short hike and then assist in the removal of an invasive species on a Bruce Trail Conservancy property.
On October 19th, join us at one of two events happening specifically for youth, one in the Iroquoia section in the morning, and one in the Niagara section in the afternoon.
Fisher’s Pond Nature Reserve, Burlington
Time: 9:30am – 12:00pm
Location: Fisher’s Pond Nature Reserve, Iroquoia Bruce Trail Section, Burlington
Meet the group at Fisher’s Pond in Burlington at 9:30am, and begin the morning with a short hike. Following the hike, with tools provided, we will be removing an invasive species known as buckthorn that is growing in the area. By removing this species, space is created for native species to grow and thrive in its place. Following the invasive species removal, we’ll hike back out to the parking area and wrap up the morning by 12:00pm. Please register in advance for this event.
Brights Property, Niagara Falls
Time: 2:00pm – 4:30pm
Location: Brights (BTC Protected Natural Area), Niagara Bruce Trail Section, Niagara Falls
Meet the group at the end of Dorchester Rd in Niagara Falls at 2:00pm, and begin the afternoon with a short hike. Following the hike, with tools provided, we will be removing an invasive species known as buckthorn that is growing in the area. By removing this species, space is created for native species to grow and thrive in its place. Following the invasive species removal, we’ll hike back out to the parking area and wrap up the day by 4:30pm. Please register in advance for this event.
