Join Bruce Trail Conservancy CEO Beth Gilhespy for a series of presentations highlighting the science of the ground beneath our feet at three unique Canadian destinations.

In these talks, Beth combines her background in geology and her enthusiasm for all things petrified, with her love of the natural world and the need for its protection. Perfect for a little armchair travelling this winter.

 

NOVEMBER

The Rock and the Escarpment: Newfoundland with a Bruce Trail twist

Beth will share her experiences on Adventure Canada's Newfoundland Circumnavigation expedition cruise and explore the unexpected ways the "Rock" and the Niagara Escarpment relate.

 

JANUARY

From Anomalocaris to Zacanthoides: An Amateur's Fossil Adventures in the High Rockies  

Beth will take us on a visual exploration of her adventures in Yoho and Kootenay, showing the finds at historic and recent fossil sites and giving us a glimpse of busy Burgess Shale life a half a billion years ago.

 

FEBRUARY

The Niagara Escarpment: A natural masterpiece 450 million years in the making

Beth will provide a comprehensive and entertaining overview of the Niagara Escarpment's geology, including slides of the beautiful Escarpment landscape, samples of the different rock strata, and stories of her geology hike* adventures.

*Our popular Geology Hike series on the Bruce Trail will not take place this fall, but we look forward to offering it again in the spring of 2019.
