Join us for an End-to-End Learning & Planning Session

Back by popular demand! We are pleased to announce two new End-to-End planning sessions this spring.

Planning an End-to-End hike of the entire Bruce Trail can seem like a daunting task. Set yourself up for success by joining us for an engaging learning and planning session.

Featuring presentations from experienced End-to-Ender Ruth Moffatt and the Bruce Trail Conservancy’s CEO Michael McDonald, you’ll learn how to prepare for your end-to-end, what to expect along the way, and what makes the journey along the Bruce Trail and Niagara Escarpment unlike any other.

The event will include a helpful Q&A period and give you an opportunity to network with others looking to hike the 900 kilometres from Niagara to Tobermory.

Tickets: $50

Each ticket includes admission to the event, light refreshments PLUS a complimentary Bruce Trail Reference, Maps and Trail Guide, Edition 31 (valued at $44.95).

Last year’s sessions sold out quickly, so get your tickets today.

All proceeds from this event will directly support the BTC’s endowment fund (Trail Development and Maintenance Fund, 1182 & 1183) to ensure the long term sustainability of our Trail.

Speakers

Michael McDonald

Michael McDonald is the CEO of the Bruce Trail Conservancy, one of Ontario’s largest land trusts and steward of Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath, the iconic Bruce Trail. Before Michael joined the BTC as CEO in 2019, he spent over ten years as a volunteer for the organization. Michael leads a talented team of staff and volunteers who manage 15,000+ acres of protected natural lands along the Niagara Escarpment and over 1,300 kilometres of trail.

Michael is a proud graduate of McMaster University and has earned a Master Naturalist Certificate from Lakehead University. In addition to his early volunteer efforts for the BTC, Michael was one of the founding members of the Hamilton Burlington Trails Foundation and previously sat on the board of the Ontario Trails Council. He formerly achieved the rank of Private in the Canadian Armed Forces (reserves) and is a certified Hike Leader in Ontario. Michael is a lover of nature and deeply values people’s personal connections to natural environments.

Ruth Moffatt

Ruth discovered hiking over 10 years ago and hasn’t looked back. She has hiked the entire Bruce Trail several times along with all the other major hiking trails in Ontario and some abroad. She is an avid backcountry camper and has completed several hiking and camping excursions.

Ruth became a hike leader in 2015 and a strong advocate for the Bruce Trail Conservancy fundraising activities in 2016. She was previously on the Niagara Bruce Trail Club board as well as the Land Securement Committee for the BTC. Ruth now devotes most of her free time to leading hikes over the entire trail, coming up with ways to introduce more people to the trail, and promoting the importance of securing this ribbon of wilderness for generations to come.
