Bruce Trail Day is an annual celebration of the incredible Bruce Trail and the wonders of the Niagara Escarpment, hosted by the Bruce Trail Conservancy at each of its Bruce Trail Clubs.

This Bruce Trail Day, Sunday October 2, 2022, we’re thrilled to bring back in-person Bruce Trail Day events after a two-year pause. Once again we’ll be celebrating our ribbon of wilderness, together!
Join us for free guided hikes and family activities to help you explore the Bruce Trail and discover the amazing variety of life along the Niagara Escarpment. Come and learn about our year-round hiking programs, volunteer opportunities, and what we are doing to preserve a ribbon of wilderness in southern Ontario from Niagara to Tobermory.

Dufferin Hi-Land
Location: Splitrock Narrows Nature Reserve, Mono
Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Niagara Bruce Trail Day Event (Niagara-on-the-Lake)
Location: Niagara College, Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, 135 Taylor Rd. NOTL (follow the signs to the greenhouses)
Time: 11:00 am to 2:30 pm
Join the Niagara Bruce Trail Club for a Bruce Trail Day celebration. Learn more about the Bruce Trail, purchase branded merchandise, and join experienced hike leaders for one of the themed guided hikes on the Trail. The hike schedule is as follows:
11:00 am – Easy Hike (1-1.5 hours)
11:30 am – Long Hike (2.5 hours)
12:00 pm – Nature Hike with Bruce Trail Conservancy Ecologist (2 hours)
1:00 pm – Easy Family Hike (1.5 hours)

Iroquoia Bruce Trail Day Event (Burlington)
Join the Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club for Bruce Trail Day on Sunday, Oct 2 at City View Park, 2500 Kerns Rd, Burlington (South Entrance).
We’ll have a number of guided hikes lasting approximately 1 hour – no registration required. Children taking part in either the Children’s hikes or the General hikes, will earn the Autumn Junior Hiker Badge free of charge for Bruce Trail Day.
10:30 am Conservation / Land Stewardship Hike with speaker Kathy Lawday, Land Steward and lead and at Burlington Easement & Fisher Pond
11:00 am Children’s Hike
11:30 am General Hike

A reminder that these are not paved trails and so they are not suitable for strollers. We also ask that hikers please leave their pets at home.

Location: Bruce Trail Kiosk, 5th Sideroad, Mono

Join the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club for Bruce Trail Day! Learn more about the Bruce Trail, join a free guided hike, and browse the BTC merchandise available for purchase.

Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Day Event (Mono)
Location: Splitrock Narrows Nature Reserve, Mono
Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
To celebrate Bruce Trail Day the Dufferin Hi-Land Club will be:
- Leading Guided Hikes throughout the day. Children under 13 receive a free “I hike the Bruce Trail” badge upon completion of the 3.5 km hike.
- Offering Family Activities including bird box assembly.
- Running a Children’s Treasure Hike where children can earn a “Take a Hike” button when they find the 10 treasures on the trees.
- Running a self-guided Tree Hike for attendees to learn about the native trees that grow in Dufferin.
The event will also include a snack table featuring $1 hot dogs. Water is also available so be sure to bring your refillable bottle.
No registration is required to join the festivities.

Blue Mountains Bruce Trail Day Event (Duntroon)
Location: Franks Lime Kiln, Duntroon
Time: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
Parking: Meet at 10:00 am at Tim Horton’s on First Street, Collingwood. Or meet at 10:15 am at Franks Lime Kiln parking lot on County Road 91.
Enjoy a free, family-focused biodiversity talk and Bruce Trail hike with very special guest Adam Brylowski, Manager of Conservation and Trail at the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Hike 0.7 km to historic Franks Kiln, and then if keen, hike over to our new Balsam Wetlands Nature Reserve returning on Walkers Aggregates Side Trail (3 to 5 km). Open to all Bruce Trail members and non-members.

Sydenham Bruce Trail Day Event (Jones Falls)
Join the Sydenham Club at Jones Falls on Sunday afternoon, to hike on the Bruce Trail at Pottawatomi Conservation Area! Parking at Grey Bruce Tourist Center at Springmount, at Hwy 6 and 21, just west of Owen Sound.
Guided hikes will start at various times between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Short hikes to the Falls and back (0.5 hour). And longer hikes (1.0 hour) to explore a bit more of the beautiful Niagara Escarpment.
No pre-registration is required for these hikes.

Peninsula Bruce Trail Day Event (Tobermory, Barrow Bay & Lion’s Head)
The Peninsula Bruce Trail Club will be hosting two guided hikes and one info booth in celebration of Bruce Trail Day. Registration is required for both hikes.
Burnt Point Loop Hike (Tobermory)
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: 500 meters south of the Parks Canada Visitor Centre.
Enjoy spectacular views of the Fathom Five National Marine Park, shore line of the Georgian Bay and not to forget the sounds of beautiful birds as we hike through the pretty cedar forest.

Bruce Trail Day Hike at Barrow Bay Nature Reserve
9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Barrow Bay Nature Reserve – Meet at the SOUTH Barrow Bay Parking Lot between South Shore Road and Barrow Bay Road.
Starting at the parking lot on County Road 9, from the main trail hikers will first complete the John Appleton Side Trail, and then rejoin the main trail stopping along the way for some stunning views of Barrow Bay and Little Lake. Then, the hike will continue to along the main trail past the new staircase and join the Beth Gilhespy Side Trail to form a loop back to the parking lot. The hike includes some rough terrain and large boulders to cross and conditions can be slippery when wet. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water.
