Map #18 - Airport Road
Making use of two newly acquired BTC properties, a new trail route has been built just to the west of Airport Road. The opening of this new route, and closure of the current trail, took place in mid May 2014. As always, hikers should follow the blazed route of the trail, regardless of what appears in the Bruce Trail Reference.
Where the trail skirts the edge of a red pine plantation, the new trail heads north into deciduous forest, and soon embarks on a strenuous trek through hills and ravines. After about a kilometre the trail begins to descend a long ridge and crosses a gravel driveway to enter the BTC Hemlock Ridges property. The driveway is private property; hikers must stay on the blazed trail. Having crossed a small boardwalk over a ditch, the trail climbs up a small valley and rejoins the old trail route at the top of the ridge.
Abandoned route = 1.2 km
