Who runs the Bruce Trail Conservancy?
The Bruce Trail Conservancy is a charitable, nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization. The BTC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our small and dedicated staff oversees Land Acquisition, Land Stewardship, Marketing and Communications, Membership, Volunteer and Fundraising programs from our Hamilton head office.
The Bruce Trail is maintained and stewarded by thousands of volunteers who are committed to the preservation on the lands of the Niagara Escarpment. Volunteers are critical to the success of the BTC and fulfill functions in all program areas.
Nine regional Bruce Trail Clubs, run entirely by volunteers, are responsible for regional maintenance, stewardship and promotion of the Bruce Trail. Clubs organize comprehensive hiking programs and other Bruce Trail events and work closely with landowners along the trail. Each club produces its own member newsletter and website.
