Bruce Trail Conservancy

Hike Ontario Alternate Representative - an Alternate representative from the BTC to Hike Ontario is needed, the current Representative is able to attend most but not all the Hike Ontario Board meetings (about 4 each year). The meetings are in various locations in Southern Ontario, a car is needed for this position. Some knowledge of BTC operations is useful but not essential. Flying Squad - Trail Maintenance Team

The Bruce Trail Conservancy Flying Squad is a team of trail maintenance volunteers who help build and maintain trail on an as needed basis. They are called in when large work parties are needed or help is needed on short notice.

Any of the BTC's nine clubs can request help from the Flying Squad, so projects can be anywhere along the Bruce Trail and can take place on weekdays or weekends. Projects include building bridges, stiles and stairs; planting trees, shrubs and groundcover; and removing invasive species.

As a Flying Squad member, you will be notified by email about upcoming trail maintenance projects. You decide which projects to participate in - if a project interests you, simply reply to the email and let us know you'd like to help out. You can take part in as many or as few projects as is convenient for you.

Anyone can join the Flying Squad and no experience is necessary. To join, simply complete the online volunteer application and indicate that you are interested in the Flying Squad.

Niagara Bruce Trail Club

The Niagara Bruce Trail Club is seeking a Vice President. The Vice President attends all Club Executive meetings and helps to make decisions on the direction of the Club.

Assistant Landowner Relations Volunteer is responsible for running the Landowner's dinner in November. Volunteers interested in this position should be personable and have good organziational skills.

Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club

Advertising Coordinator for the Caledon Comment

Duties:                        

  • Contact existing advertisers by e-mail four times per year
  • Follow up on advertising leads received
  • Develop new advertising contacts.


Required Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.

Time Commitment: Two hours a month.

Editor of Cal E-news

Duties:

  • Maintain emailing list of subscribers
  • Publish e-newsletter based on information provided approximately 12 times a year.

Required Skills:  Good attention to detail and minimal computer skills are required. 

Full training can be provided.

Time Commitment:  Two or three hours per month.

Assistant to the Trail Maintenance Coordinator

Duties:

  • Assist the Trail Maintenance Coordinator in all aspects of trail maintenance, including leading trail maintenance work parties.

Required Skills:          

  • You enjoy working with Trail Maintenance volunteers to keep Caledon's trails in tiptop condition.
  • You possess a basic knowledge of trail maintenance techniques.
  • You are a "doer" who has good organizational skills that need an outlet.

Time Commitment:     10 to 15 hours a month.

 Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club

The Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club has an opening on the Board of Directors for Volunteer Coordinator/Director. 
 
Here's some information from the BTC Volunteer Management Manual about the position:

Purpose:  to coordinate the use of volunteers throughout the Club, and to facilitate the recruiting, training and recognition of all volunteers in the Club, under the direction of the BTC Director of Volunteer Programs.
Qualities needed:
-time and willingness to do the job
-desire to work with people
-good communication skills
-some computer skills would be an asset
-willingness to work with the BTC Director of Volunteer Programs
Time Commitment: 8-12  hours per month

This is your chance to have some input into the direction of the Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club.  Club board meetings are usually on Wednesday evenings and are held every 4 to 6 weeks and usually not during the summer.

Sydenham Bruce Trail Club:

Volunteers are the driving force behind the Bruce Trail. Without our volunteers there would not be a Bruce Trail. After enjoying all the gifts that "The Trail" has to offer, many people have decided to give something back. The SBTC currently has the following vacant positions: Vice President, Publicity, Volunteer Coordinator, Social Coordinator, Land Stewards and Trail Captains. If you're interested in spending a few hours each month having some fun and supporting the club please feel free to attend one of the monthly Board Meetings. Here you can get all the information you need about each of the available positions i.e. job description / duties. These meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Owen Sound Library beginning at 6:45pm. The Toronto Bruce Trail Club is run entirely by volunteers. Member involvement is a key element in the success of the club. We are always looking for new volunteers to help in a variety of positions and functions. Here are some of the positions the club is currently seeking:

Responsible for the overall Volunteer Program, including maintaining the volunteer database and running the Club's volunteer recognition program.

Responsible for developing and maintaining the social program of the club Board members must be BTC members in good standing.

· Footnotes Editor
The Footnotes Editor shall be responsible for arranging and chairing the newsletter planning meetings, The Design and layout of the Club's quarterly Newsletter, including Articles, Ads , Independent outings, Classified Ads and the Hiking schedule.
