Positions Purpose Skills

Head Office Volunteer

Help out in the office in a variety of capacities, stuffing envelopes, data entry, answering phones and serving customers in the store. 

-Ability to work well with others
-Skill sets vary depending on duties

Environment Committee

Engage in and promote conservation of wildlife and natural resources

-Interest in conservation of nature
-Understanding of plants, animals, forestry and agriculture

Finance Committee

Maintain the financial records for the Bruce Trail Conservancy

 

-Financial background in accounting or bookkeeping

 

Fundraising Committee

Plan and coordinate private, public and membership fundraising programs

-Experience in events or in running campaigns

 

Land Stewardship Committee

Oversees and reviews property management plans, implement and develop the Land Stewardship Program for all Bruce Trail Conservancy properties

 

-Expertise in areas of land management, conservation, project leadership
-Knowledge of fauna and flora

 

Landowner Relations Committee

Manage all Landowner activities to establish and maintain effective relations with all Landowners along the Bruce Trail

 

-Knowledge of real estate/property management
-Conflict negotiation skills

 

Marketing Committee

Promote the Bruce Trail and its products, suggest new products and ways to market them, work to increase membership of the Bruce Trail Conservancy

 

-Experience in public relations, writing and design

Land Securement Secretariat

Help to find properties that the Bruce Trail Conservancy can purchase to help secure the Trail

-Realty or property management experience
-Ability to read maps and surveys
Human Resources Committee

Review BTC Human Resources Policies and Procedures and oversees Executive Director Implementation of approved HR policies and procedures.

 

Steering and Strategic Planning Committee

Responsible for overseeing the governance of the BTC, for development and renewal of the strategic plan, and for implementation of a quality improvement system.

 
Risk Management Committee To address risk management issues relating to the policies, practices and operations of the Bruce Trail Conservancy,    
 

Policy Advisory Council

Provide the Board with continual, on-going support in the areas of policy development and planning relating to Government legislation, regulation, programs and policies that have an impact on the Niagara Escarpment, and consequently the Bruce Trail.

 
Bruce Trail Conservancy Archivist

Maintain BTC items of historic importance.

-Preservation skills

-Interest in history 

BTC Representative to an allied association To represent the Bruce Trail Conservancy, its policies and interests to allied associations and to vote accordingly at all meetings.  
Bruce Trail Conservancy Board Member Attend Board meetings and support the work of the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
