It's time to vote for the winner in the 2012 Photo Contest.

Take a look at the 10 finalists and choose which one you think should be on the cover of the next Bruce Trail Magazine.

Theme: Our Iconic Bruce Trail

In this, our 4th Annual BTC Photo Contest, we invite you to submit photos that are quintessentially "Bruce Trail". Find and share those iconic images that capture the essence of the Bruce Trail, or the experience of those who explore it.

What is an iconic Bruce Trail image to you? Is it...

• a white-blazed tree marking a path through a patch of trilliums?
• a stile over a fence?
• a waterfall tumbling over a dolostone cliff?
• muddy boots along a fern-lined path?
• volunteers at work on a boardwalk?

The possibilities are endless.

Photos may include landscapes, trail features, flora, fauna and/or people.
Since the winning image will be on the summer issue of the magazine - images that are noticeably fall or winter images will be disqualified.

From the entries, 10 finalists will be chosen by a panel of BTC judges. An online vote will determine the final winner.

All 10 finalist images will feature inside the Summer 2012 issue of Bruce Trail Magazine. The winner will have his/her image appear on the cover of that issue and will receive a Bruce Trail gift pack and a mounted print of the magazine cover.

How to Enter

1.  Read the BTC Photo Contest Rules and Regulations 2012 (.pdf, 152.4 KB)

2.  Become a Member of the Bruce Trail Conservancy (if you are not already). 
     This contest is open to all BTC members, and only to BTC members.

3.  Create a Member Login on the BTC Website (if you haven't already)
     You'll need your member number and last name to do so.

4.  Upload photos to your member profile on the BTC website.
     How?

• Login to your member account at http://brucetrail.org/login, or select "Member Login" at the top right hand corner of this page.
  
  
• Once you are logged in, make sure that you have a public profile. Select "Settings" in the top right hand corner of the page. Make sure that you have selected "Give me a Public Profile" in your preferences.  Once this has been selected, click "Update Preferences".
  
  
• Select "My Profile" in the top right hand corner of the page.
  
  
• In your profile, select "Upload Photos".
  
  
• Clearly label your photos when uploading them in the following format:
  Title_Location
  

5.  Once you have uploaded your photos, visit the submission page to submit your favourites by March 21, 2012 (11:59 pm EST).

NOTE: Please retain a high resolution copy of your photo. The BTC website automatically reduces the size of the photo when uploading. Maximum file size that can be uploaded is 5 MB.

Judging

A panel from the Bruce Trail Conservancy will select ten (10) finalists in each category based on three criteria:

• visual appeal and composition;
• depiction of the Bruce Trail / Niagara Escarpment; and
• originality and creativity.

Finalists will be contacted between March 22-27, 2012.

The ten finalists in each category will be posted on the BTC website for members and the public to pick their favorite. Voting begins March 28, 2012.

The image with the greatest number of votes will be deemed the winner of that category. (See Rules and Regulations for more details)

The winners will be announced in the summer 2012 edition of the Bruce Trail Magazine.
