2 seasons - 2 categories - 2 winners

This year (2011), the annual BTC Photo Contest is expanding to include two seasonal categories:

• Summer life on the Bruce Trail
• Winter life on the Bruce Trail

We are looking for unique images that capture the essence of life on the Niagara Escarpment and the experience of Bruce Trail users. 

Photos may include landscape, flora, fauna and/or people.

In each category, 10 finalists will be chosen.  An online vote will determine the final winner in each category.  The two winning photos will appear on the front cover of Bruce Trail Magazine - one on the summer 2011 issue, and one on the winter 2011/2012 issue. Finalists will appear inside the issues. Winners will also receive a Bruce Trail gift pack and a framed print of their magazine cover.

How to Enter

1.  Read the BTC Photo Contest Rules and Regulations 2011 (.pdf, 42.4 KB)

2.  Become a Member of the Bruce Trail Conservancy (if you are not already). 
     This contest is open to all BTC members.

3.  Create a Member Login on the BTC Website (if you haven't already)
     You'll need your member number and last name to do so.

4.  Upload photos to your member profile on the BTC website.
     How?

• Login to your member account at http://brucetrail.org/login, or select "Member Login" at the top right hand corner of this page.
  
  
• Once you are logged in, make sure that you have a public profile. Select "Settings" in the top right hand corner of the page. Make sure that you have selected "Give me a Public Profile" in your preferences.  Once this has been selected, click "Update Preferences".
  
  
• Select "My Profile" in the top right hand corner of the page.
  
  
• In your profile, select "Upload Photos".
  
  
• Clearly label your photos when uploading them in the following format:
  Category_Location or Species_Title
  
  (Category = Summer or Winter; Location or Species = location or species depicted in the photo; Title = any short title you'd like to give the photo)
  

5.  Once you have uploaded your photos, visit the submission page to submit your favourites by March 21, 2011 (11:59 pm EST).

NOTE: Please retain a high resolution copy of your photo. The BTC website automatically reduces the size of the photo when uploading. Maximum file size that can be uploaded is 5 MB.

Judging

A panel from the Bruce Trail Conservancy will select ten (10) finalists in each category based on three criteria:

• visual appeal and composition;
• depiction of the Bruce Trail / Niagara Escarpment and the season; and
• originality and creativity.

Finalists will be contacted between March 25-29, 2011.

The ten finalists in each category will be posted on the BTC website for members and the public to pick their favorite. Voting begins March 30, 2011.

The image with the greatest number of votes in a category will be deemed the winner of that category. (See Rules and Regulations for more details)

The winners will be announced in the summer 2011 edition of the Bruce Trail Magazine.
