Determined to share the wonders of the Bruce Trail with as many kids as possible, and raise funds for inner-city kids in Hamilton and for The Bruce Trail Conservancy, Hamilton adventurers and philanthropists Fred Losani, Peter Turkstra, and Mark McLennan, along with Finnish outdoor adventurer Teemu Lakkasuo began their Bruce Trail Expedition for Kids trek on September 24 at the southern terminus of the Bruce Trail in Niagara.
On October 26, they finished their quest in Tobermory after completing the 885 kilometre Bruce Trail end-to-end in 30 days of hiking.

On each day of the trek, the Team spoke to classrooms full of children by webcam and satellite phone from the Trail, sharing tales of their adventures and reporting on what they had encountered that day. In return, children joined the Team on the Trail, sent them inspiring tweets, and even started raising funds for the inner-city food and nutrition programs in Hamilton.
The program endeavoured to link the concepts of proper nutrition, healthy living, and maintaining and exploring the Bruce Trail. It proved to be a powerful and inspiring lesson for the hikers and students alike.
Fred Losani was clearly moved by the positive experience and commented in one of his last posted videos "you really need to put your feet on the Trail". He encouraged everyone to realize and explore the wonder that is right in our backyard.
On October 26 in Tobermory the Bruce Trail Expedition for Kids Team presented the Bruce Trail Conservancy's Executive Director Beth Kümmling with a cheque for $50,000. Ms. Kümmling noted, "We are delighted to accept this donation on behalf of all the people who have explored and fallen in love with the Bruce Trail as you have done over these last 30 days. We thank you for supporting the work we do in conservation of the Niagara Escarpment, and for being such fabulous ambassadors of the Trail to all those you reached".
